The Bahrain Chapter of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) has put its best foot forward in tirelessly serving and promoting the well-being of Indian people in the kingdom. Over the years, GOPIO Bahrain has accomplished everything it has set out to do, and the past year has been nothing short of extraordinary for the Bahrain Chapter.
A new president was elected to stand at the helm of the group in a ceremony that saw Dr. George Cheriyan handing over the presidency to a veteran of the aviation industry, MS. Tina Mathew Nellicken. The special event was attended by GOPIO Global President Sunny Kulathakal and other dignitaries. GOPIO Bahrain President Ms tina Mathew and Global Chairman Mr Sunny Kulathakal met with former Minister of State for External Affairs Dr Shashi Tharoor and Indian Ambassador Bahrain H.E Piyush Srivastava and they wished the newly elected committee.
The Bahrain Chapter held an induction ceremony for the new office bearers at the Crowne Plaza Hotel attended by Indian Embassy Second Secretary Mr. Ihjas Aslam chief guest and Capital Governorate Director of Information Mr. Yusuf Lori as guest of honour. GOPIO Global Chairman Mr Kulathakal gave the oath of service, President Ms. Mathew proposed the welcome speech and Vice President Mr. Samuel Paul gave the vote of thanks.
