About Us
GOPIO (Global Organization of People of Indian Origin), established in New York in 1989, is a non-partisan, apolitical organization uniting the global Indian diaspora. It works for community betterment, embodying the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam"—the world is one family.
GOPIO initially focused on combating human rights violations against people of Indian origin (PIOs). While progress has been made, these issues persist. Today, GOPIO prioritizes pooling financial and professional resources to benefit PIOs, their host countries, and India.

GOPIO, aims to bring people of Indian Origin in the World together to promote their professional, cultural and social interests with a view to realizing their maximum potential in the service of Global peace, prosperity, happiness and compassion.

1. GOPIO provides a platform for people of India origins to network together for mutual development and advancement.
2. To promote the common cultural heritage and legacy of Indians.
3. To energize professional and intellectual resources of Indians in the world in order to realize their maximum potentialities.
4. To contribute to global peace, prosperity, happiness and compassion.

03 OBJECTIVES
1. To promote legitimate interests of the People of Indian Origin (PIOs)/Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) as a resident in countries outside India.
2. To promote the common cultural heritage of PIOs/NRIs.
3. To mobilize professional, financial and intellectual resources of the community of PIOs/NRIs for their mutual advancement and for the development of their country of origin and the country of their residence.
4. To organize interaction between PIOs/NRIs on a global level to deliberate and decide on common issues and problems facing them, including assimilation and adaptation within the host society.
5. To provide a forum at periodical intervals to discuss, debate and decide on common problems and issues facing groups of PIOs/NRIs and initiate measures to redress their grievances.
6. To disseminate regularly information on global, regional and national developments affecting PIOs/NRIs as a whole or substantial parts thereof.
7. To further the interaction between PIOs/NRIs and other communities at global level in promoting world peace, progress and ecological harmony.
8. To develop channels of communication between groups of PIOs/NRIs in different countries and between them and India.
9. To raise funds through contributions and other means on regular basis and at special occasions for promoting social, cultural and developmental activities in India and at a global level as well for the relief and rehabilitation of PIOs/NRIs affected by natural and other calamities.
10. To constitute Think Tanks and Task Forces of PIOs/NRIs on particular issues of interest to the Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) or to India.

Dr. Anina Mariam Varghese is a dedicated Homeopathic Doctor practicing at Diyar Medical Center in Bahrain. With a strong educational background from Father Muller Homeopathic Medical College and Sarada Krishna Homeopathic Medical College, she specializes in treating a wide range of health concerns, with a special focus on behavioral issues and pediatric care. Dr. Anina is also a certified Psychometric Assessor and holds a Diploma in Health Research Fundamentals.
Her passion for helping children with learning and behavioral challenges has led her to introduce complementary homeopathic treatments for pediatric care in Bahrain. She has been actively involved in COVID-19 control initiatives, screening over 500 schools in South India. Dr. Anina's commitment to holistic care extends to adults as well, making her a trusted healthcare provider for families seeking personalized, effective solutions.
Born in Thiruvalla and raised in Salalah, Oman, Dr. Anina has been living in Bahrain for the past 13 years. She is married to Mr. Lejo Mathew and is a mother of two children. In addition to her career, Dr. Anina was a finalist in Mrs. Kerala 2017 and has a passion for dance and makeup artistry. She enjoys doing makeovers for brides and models in her free time. Dr. Anina also manages two Instagram pages: homoeo_diaries for her profession and glam_wit_doc for her passion.
Binu Pappachen
Binu Pappachen, hailing from Pathanamthitta, Kerala, has been a standout figure in the business realm of Bahrain for the past 25 years. Armed with a diploma in Electrical Engineering, Binu has not only carved a niche for himself as a successful entrepreneur but has also left his mark in the world of sports. An avid Badminton player and a certified umpire, Binu has officiated in numerous international tournaments, showcasing his passion and expertise in the sport. Additionally, he is a former player and member of the Bahrain Cricket League, further highlighting his prowess in the realm of sports.
Beyond his achievements on the court, Binu has played a pivotal role in coordinating various international and national tournaments for the Bahrain Badminton Federation and other organizations. Alongside his wife Sheeba, a dedicated staff nurse with the Ministry of Health, Binu is a proud parent to four children who have received their education in Bahrain. Their elder daughter, Lizbeth, is a prominent member of the Bahrain National Badminton Team, representing her country in various international tournaments. Binu's dedication and passion for sports are truly commendable, making him a respected figure both in the business world and the realm of sports.

Many international & National tournaments coordinated for Bahrain Badminton Federation and also for different organizations.
Rahul Menon
Rahul Menon is a multi-talented and dynamic Business Development Professional at Radio Mirchi in Bahrain. With a strong background in sales and marketing, Rahul has worked with top companies like JA Zayani and Sons and Aadhriya Medical Centre. Holding a BBA from Mewar University and a PGDBMA from MITSDE, Pune, Rahul is also a Google-certified digital marketer. But Rahul's talents extend beyond the business world - he is also actively involved with Toastmasters International, honing his communication and leadership skills.
Fluent in English and proficient in French and Hindi, Rahul's diverse language skills reflect his passion for connecting with people from all backgrounds. In his spare time, Rahul indulges in various art forms, sports, and extracurricular activities, showcasing his well-rounded interests. Anup Abdulla
Dr. Anup Abdulla is a highly regarded Consultant in internal and Sports Medicine at Kims HealthGroup in Muharaq, Bahrain. With a strong background in medicine, Dr. Abdulla has also served as a volunteer for the World Health Organization in rescue and rehabilitation efforts in Syria and Nepal. In addition to his medical work, he is also a dedicated member of the National Disaster Group in India.
Born and raised in Abudhabi, Dr. Abdulla completed his bachelors and post-graduation in medicine in India. His interests include biking and reading, and he has embarked on numerous international and all-India trips. Dr. Abdulla has also been actively involved in NGO work in Kerala and has collaborated with the WHO on medical aid missions in Syria and Nepal.
Having been based in Bahrain for the past five years, Dr. Abdulla continues to make a significant impact in the field of medicine and humanitarian efforts.
Lata Vinod
Lata Vinod is a dedicated educator and accomplished badminton umpire from Mumbai, India, who has been residing in Bahrain since 1999. With a passion for sports, particularly badminton, Lata has honed her skills over the past two decades, earning recognition as a Bahrain National Umpire and a Badminton Asia accredited Umpire. Her talents have taken her to international tournaments in Europe and the Far East, showcasing her expertise in the sport. Outside of badminton, Lata also excels in the art of knitting and crochet, holding two Guinness World Records for her intricate creations. Additionally, she has proven her communication skills by placing third in a public speaking contest, demonstrating her versatility and determination in all aspects of her life.
Flavia Peters
Flavia Peters is a dynamic individual with a diverse background in both corporate and creative industries. Originally from Mumbai, India, Flavia has been residing in Bahrain since 2013 and currently holds the position of Executive Assistant to the Executive Director at a private firm in Bahrain, where she manages key administrative and strategic tasks with precision and expertise.
Flavia is also a part-time influencer and model, collaborating with various brands and engaging with a wide range of audiences. As a mother of two daughters, she excels at balancing her professional and personal life with passion and dedication. With a wealth of experience in communication, organization, and networking, she is well-equipped to make a meaningful contribution to the community and support initiatives that create a positive impact. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence make her a valuable asset in any endeavor she undertakes.
OUR HISTORY
Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), founded in 1989 during the inaugural international convention of People of Indian Origin (PIO) in New York, emerged from a shared desire to establish a unifying platform for individuals of Indian origin worldwide. Evolving into a well defined organisation with members spanning the globe, GOPIO has been pivotal in advocating for PIO interests across various nations, including Fiji, Sri Lanka, Trinidad, the USA, Europe, and Australia.

GOPIO was formed at the first convention of PIOs

At the 2nd Global convention in New Delhi, GOPIO adopted its constitution and held the first election according to the new Constitution

Seethal Jose is a dynamic professional currently excelling in the field of sales and marketing at Brilliant Mind Center, a renowned training institute in Mahooz. Armed with a B.Tech Degree in Electronics and Communication from Cochin University of Science and Technology and an MBA in HR from Christ University, Bangalore, Seethal's career journey began in 2010 when she was campus placed at WIPRO as a Recruiter. Her passion for talent acquisition and development led her to work as an HR Officer at New Horizon School in Bahrain. Originally from Cochin, Kerala, Seethal has been residing in Bahrain for the past 13 years with her husband, Mr. Geo Joy, a Mechanical Engineer, and their three children. In addition to her professional achievements, Seethal is actively involved in various social causes and enjoys indulging in creative pursuits like costume designing, embroidery, sketching, and creative writing. Always up for a challenge, Seethal constantly seeks out new opportunities for personal growth and learning.
Ameena Rahman
Mrs. Ameena Rahman is a talented event specialist with a rich background in organizing high-profile events. Originally from Coorg in Karnataka, India, Ameena was born and raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain, where she has honed her skills over the past decade. She is known for her ability to curate bespoke events that seamlessly blend creativity and precision, making her a highly sought-after name in the industry.
Ameena's passion for networking and fashion shines through in her work, where she incorporates stylish themes and cutting-edge trends into her events. Sunitha Vivek
Sunitha Alappat Vivek, a seasoned professional, hailing from south India and residing in Bahrain for more than two decades with over twenty years of experience across diverse industries, including advertising and marketing, automobiles, academia, finance, logistics and naval shipping, and the Bahrain International Circuit. Currently self-employed, she thrives as a dedicated and motivated team player with strong organizational skills. Beyond her professional endeavors, she has a deep passion for travel and love exploring new cultures and landscapes around the world.

She holds a Master’s degree in International Travel, Tourism & Hospitality, and Event Management from The London School of Business and Finance (LSBF). Throughout her career, Tina worked with premium airlines and the Bahrain Military-Air Force, showcasing her expertise across various segments of the aviation sector. A former student of Indian School Bahrain, Tina hails from Kerala and now resides as a dedicated homemaker and mother of four. Her upbringing as an Indian born and raised in Bahrain has instilled in her a unique blend of cultural values, characterized by generosity, humanity, and warmth.
